About The Owner:
Hi I’m Tonya, the owner and operator of Wings Massage & Bodywork. Thank you for taking the time to view my website. I have greatly enjoyed putting the site together and hope you like it and find it informative.
In addition to owning and operating my business, Wings Massage & Bodywork, I am also a professional Project Manager. Having spent over a decade working for Fortune 500 companies in Massachusetts, I understand first hand that the reduction of stress and anxiety is crucial to improving and maintaining overall health and wellness. My interest in the health and alternative healing field began in 2002, when I first conceived of the idea for Wings Massage & Bodywork. I spent 5 years researching the industry and best practices.
In 2007, I enrolled in an 800 hour therapeutic massage program in Quincy, MA. The program included foundational education in a number of modalities, including Swedish, Deep-Tissue, Chair, Sports, and Hot Stone Massage, as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine, and neuromuscular therapy.
Since my graduation in 2009, I have continued my education, taking hundreds of hours of continuing education in various massage modalities as well as body and energy work. I am a certified Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapist through training received at the Stone Temple Institute in Clinton, CT; a certified Reflexologist through courses taught by Val Voner of The New England Reflexology Institute at the Cortiva Institute of Muscular Therapy in Watertown, MA, and I am a Reiki II practitioner.
I enjoy working with clients and being able to offer therapeutic massage that is effective and serves their specific health and well-being needs. Clients frequently tell me that I have a “great sense of touch” and they have described my style of massage as being “intuitive”, “pain-relieving”, “rhythmic”, “nurturing”, and “relaxing”. I believe in a holistic approach to health and wellness and aim to support you as my client through thoughtful and conscious methods that promote healing and allow you to leave your custom treatment relaxed, with less pain, renewed vitality, and a refreshed spirit!
I am passionate about educating people on the benefits of massage therapy. I publish a quarterly client newsletter which is chock full of informative articles and tips (our newsletters can be found on the Resources page of this site). Wings Massage & Bodywork also extends into the workplaces of local companies through our “Wings Mobile” practice, which offers in-office chair massage to employees at a number of companies in and around Boston and the South Shore area.
I hold a Bachelors degree in International Relations from Boston University and enjoy traveling, researching genealogies, writing, and spending time with loved ones. When I am not working, spending time with family and friends or engaged in hobbies, I can be found curled up in a corner with my cat and my Nook, the latter of which I am hopelessly addicted to.
